Dennis Lepiane, the retired College Place Police Chief, has died at the age of 78 on March 27, 2026.
He began his career with the College Place Police Department in 1972 as a part-time dispatcher. In 1973, he advanced to full-time dispatcher and reserve officer, before becoming a patrol officer in 1975. His leadership journey continued when he was appointed Chief of Police in 1977, a position he held until his retirement on March 31, 2016.
Chief Lepiane dedicated more than four decades of service to the College Place, Washington community, earning deep respect for his commitment, leadership, and public service.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, daughter Jaymie, son-in-law Jared, and grandson Trevor. The City of College Place expressed appreciation for his decades of dedicated service to public safety.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home, located at 315 W. Alder Street, Walla Walla, Washington. Arrangements are being handled by the Herring family of funeral homes.
